Have you ever wondered what it means to be logical? What are we supposed to do if we want our kids to be a logical thinker? Well, dictionary suggest that logical thinking is a proper or reasonable way of thinking about or understanding something.Logic is the science of how to evaluate arguments and reasoning.

To improve thinking process, children must believe that thinking is fun and want to be good at it. Let us try to make thinking fun for kids and help them to think logically:

1. Why Do We Use a Fishing Rod?

Your child will learn the function of a fishing rod with the help of this video. Danny has found a picture of a man fishing for something in the water. What do you think he should fish for? Ask your child and show them the four options given below the image. Help you child learn how fishing rod helps to catch fishes.

2. Printing Using Objects

This video shows some interesting way in which kids can make patterns using vegetable pieces. Ask your child to take some waste pieces of vegetable and try making new patterns. Who knows, you have a young designer at home!

3. Time Pattern

It takes a different amount of time to do different things. Take, for instance, blinking and cooking. Blinking your eyes will take a second or so but cooking, on the other hand, takes minutes or even hours. Let's try and learn how to read time. Make it like a fun game at home for your child, ask them to guess how much time it will take to do a certain activity.

4. Identify Time and Date with Sam

Sam is at the farm house. Let's wake up Sam and see what he does all day. Sam's day is divided into four parts- Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night. The video shows the different activities Sam does in each of the periods. Ask your child to think and tell you what are the different activity he/she does during different times of the day. It can be like a ‘Rapid fire' game where you tell the name of activityAnd they will reply morning/afternoon/evening/night.

Activities to improve Logical thinking of your child

A. Strategy games:

One of the important problem-solving skills that we want to develop in our kid is logical thinking: ‘if this ... then what'. Strategy games are a great way to help children to develop this skill. Board games like Ludo, Snakes and ladder are quite useful at this stage.

B. Puzzles:

Jigsaw Puzzles are good tools to develop logical thinking of the child. Beside normal jigsaw puzzles, you can also let your child play online puzzle games.

C. Questions:

Asking questions in the form of quiz/ riddles will also be useful for kids. You can make your own riddles. E.g. I am an animal, I am black in colour and I am Big. Who am I!! Note it does not matter much, how structured is your sentence, it should trigger thinking in your child. Play many such ‘Who am I' game with your kid. Have fun
